Of all the strange items, none may be more baffling than the Accursed Shroud. Dropped by Beholders, this cloak has a measly damage reduction rating and gives -2 to every stat. Analysis of this armor reveals that it does give a +1 critical bonus, but considering its downsides, it is inferior in every way to the Critical Cloak (save poison resistance). Still, the Critical Cloak, being a quest item, can be hard to come by, and if used correctly the Accursed Shroud can stand in as a substitute, at least until one meets the requirements to use the superior Blue Cloak.
